Default WIll not start

My PT has been in the garage couple of months and it is an original model but has had the new battery conversion. It worked fine when parked but not when I try to start it it just beeps once when I place the key in the socket and does nothing. no display - just the beep. Does this will all three keys (yellow, blake, and red)

ANy ideas?

remove batteries during a couple of hours...after that, plug the segway without the batteries.

then, try to use key like regular...you must have an error displayed on Display.

after this, unplug the cord...and re-attach the batteries. And plug again...wait the full charge (a couple of minutes).

and try to glide.

Thanks for the tip.

I tried it - no error w/o batteries and plugged in. Just dead, no beep, nothing.

Replaced batteries, same thing, a single beep when I try to start.

Looks like it is going to Segway of Santa MOnica next week

I just had this problem with our gen 1 i180. Thought i should document it here for anyone, including myself, to find later.

situation: Machine charges with both green lights blinking properly. When I attempt to turn machine on with any key, the display remains grey, does not light, does not change color, is completely unchanged. Machine beeps twice - one high pitch beep then a low pitch beep. Will not start. I changed batteries, took my nickels off and put my lithiums on, and machine did same thing. Then took batteries off for about 2 hours and then put them back on and same thing happened.

Fix: left batteries on, removed the control shaft and disconnected both control shaft cords. Reconnected them about 3 minutes later. Now machine starts. I don't know why, but thought I should let everyone know. Ken

The original hierarchy of self diagnosis and repair of the gen 1 machines from 12+ years ago included both of those attempts...

If you have a no start or error code on start up, after you try different keys or whatever, the first reboot if you will, was to remove the control shaft, and unplug the handlebar plugs... Wait 5 minutes or so, the re- assemble, and see if this fixed your problem.

I guess you could kind of consider this a hot boot up, or a restart.

If that did not work, the next level was to remove the batteries for a short while, then re install them.

This is closer to that I might call a cold boot, or complete power cycle.

There are small processing functions that happen in the handlebar electronics that can impact the function and communication between the main boards and the key reader. The control shaft connectors can impact this.

I am glad the previous repair was corrected by removing that control shaft and re seating the connectors.

As I recall my own early years (2003 and 2004) this was not that uncommon a procedure to have to do.
