Except it wasn't a Segway, it was one of those smaller self-balancing foot scooters:

Problem is the person who was riding is video taped calling it a segway. I know it was not, all of us on this forum know, but the rider himself does not know.

So, he did not know what he was riding, he did not know why he was not supposed to ride, and he thinks the cop was wrong. He does not know what he was riding, he does not know that he was not supposed to be doing it, but he KNOWS the cop was wrong.

I am glad I am not a defense lawyer on this one.

The cop was the first to use the word "Segway" as retold by the rider. I can see continuing to use this term as a way to keep the conversation going. I think to most of the world, anything self-balancing that you ride is a segway (lower-case s) much like people refer to small off-road vehicles as "jeeps" though they may not actually be Jeeps.

I think there are about 12 people in the world who care when a non-Segway is called a Segway, and I'd wager more than half of them are on this forum.
