This could be great, Ninebot will have access to all the prototypes the PD team built over the years... meaning that we may actually see a Ninebot Centaur or other crazy stuff.

One of Ninebot's primary investors is Xiaomi, the Chinese phone company that has been repeatedly accused of ripping off Apple's designs.
I'm worried about what this means about the health of INC. Can you imagine if Xiaomi announced that it was purchasing Apple? Wasn't INC just purchased by a British company fairly recently? Getting sold multiple times is also rather concerning. I'm not bashing, I'm just worried. |

Brits, headed by the late Jimi Heselden, had Segway Inc from Dec 2009 until Summit Strategic Investments LLC of Brentwood, TN took control in Feb 2013.

Good news...bad news...who knows?
The only thing I'm concerned about right now are spare parts. Might have to get another i2 down the line as well before prices start to go up.

I guess I mixed up the two stories, but my point was that Segway just changed hands in 2013. Thanks for the clarification.

"Things are well-positioned now to develop the channel and go-to market strategy." Segway Inc. President George Muller, Jan 8, 2003.

Ninebot buying Segway is a quick way to squash the lawsuit over intellectual property, which would have put Ninebot at a serious disadvantage in any country that respects international IP. It also gives Ninebot instant access to the dealers.
It is not impossible to imagine that Seg assembly will remain in Bedford, but I don't see any serious impediment to having assembly performed somewhere else. |

On a related subject, it will be interesting to see what actions NineBot takes with regards to the operation of this forum.
