Arrow Is there a way to avoid a puncture or a flat tire on a Segway?

I was thinking if there was a way to avoid possible punctures on the Segway. I was checking out what is available in the market and read about this Slime product.

I don't know what are the pros and cons for adding this product inside the tube, especially in Segway's tires.

Would you recommend such a product or any alternative solution?

There are no cons on Slime....I use it out here in the desert on my bicycle...
I do not use it on my x2...

Last about 2 years and will fill a puncture up to a 1/4 inch... I get goatheads all the time in my bike...pull them then go for a quick ride to make sure the hole is covered...when the air tries to leave it fills the holes...I also use tire liners, but they don't make anything that wide for Seg tires...

Thank you for your reply.

Why don't you use Slime on the x2?

There are three Sealant categories:
-Tire Sealant
-Tube Sealant
-Tubeless Sealants

I'm looking now at their site to find out which is the right sealant type for a Segway. Do you know which product is more suitable for the i2?

http://slime.com/category/sealant/

I think tube sealants applies in our case, right?

Our tire size is in diameter 19 in (48.3 cm). I was looking for the dimensions of the i2 tires and then I bumped into this link to find out sizes. Which are the i2 tire dimensions? There is a guide and also a custom tire calculator in Slime's site to identify which product and quantity is right for each application.

This thread from 2006 says to use Slime for tubeless tires:

http://forums.segwaychat.org/showthread.php?t=12124

The key part seems to be that after you empty a can into the tire, you need to go gliding on your Segway for awhile to distribute the slime evenly around the inside of the tire.

The X2 tires are far beefier than stock i2 tires...and out here in the desert I have had zero problems and believe its because there are steel belted?

As for the goo.....the more you use the better, get the 16 oz'er or larger if your worried....I use to keep a handy air pump in my mounted backpack....never have needed it.....
