Default Where to buy a used Segway?

Hello everyone. Recently went on a Segway tour with my wife and totally loved it! I'd like to buy a used I2 or X2 that I can mostly use to get back and forth to my workplace about a half mile away or so (I come home for lunch every day too).

Anyhow, I've checked Ebay and Craigslist, and I'd really rather not pay through the nose by purchasing a Segway brand new.

Suggestions on how I could go about finding a good deal on a used I2 or X2 that's in good shape? Online resources?
I live in upstate New York about an hour north of Albany, near Saratoga Springs. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Feel free to email me at shoelessdun@yahoo.com as well. Thanks!

Buying on eBay is always a gamble, but that's how I got both my Segways, and both experiences were positive. You can protect yourself somewhat by asking for specific details about the condition (does it run correctly, are the tires decent, etc.) and for the serial number (you could ask INC if it's been reported stolen).

Remember that the sale of used items is an as-is sale, so unless the seller makes specific promises that are untrue, you can't undo the deal if you don't like the condition.

Segways are expensive, and can cost a bit. That does not mean you cannot get a deal, as many do, but in general, they cost a pretty penny.

As you live in upstate NY, as with anywhere else, it is in your interest to see and touch the segway before you pay for it.

If buying from a distance, do not pay before you get it. Make what ever arrangements are necessary, as there are lots of scams.

Asking for advice is a good idea, but buying any item like this is like buying a used car. It is hard to give specific advice from a distance.

Look carefully. Do your research. Be conservative. Expect deals that look too good to be true to have something you need to dig to find. There are no free lunches.

Good luck...

Hello shoelessdun,

How about a follow up? We're you able to find a used Segway and how did it work out for you?
