I don't see how worn elastomeric couplings would cause drift to one side...

If it drifts right, you should wear a 5 pound weight on your left ankle.

I live on a flat road, but it is short, and the road that is next has a pretty good crown (Center of road is higher than the edges, so water and sand move off road)
I have often found that on the higher crown road, even when going straight, the segway would drift down hill, or off to the right. There really are very few flat spaces here. Even relatively flat ones by appearance are really crowned... The biggest thing, even when not really obvious is really different sized tires, usually from different inflation. I have seen uneven weight (like an unevenly loaded handlebar bag) also cause a sideways drift, and also, there is a potential that the handlebar turn ring may not be re-centering itself because of grit or a defect in the collar it rotates on. I have also had to clean that handlebar section and bits, and had the collar re center itself as it should... Let us know the final solution...

The most obvious thing is if the tires are not properly inflated to the same tire pressure. Check that, and if it still happens, try inflating the left-hand tire a little more to correct for the drift.
