Default i2 to x2 conversion

I am looking for a used x2 but would consider an i2 and then buy the $1200 conversion kit. The i2 is easier to find locally and generally less expensive than a used x2. I would be interested in hearing from those who have done the conversion. Specifically, how the converted i2 would handle occasionally rough desert terrain. I know that there are software differences that affect speed and possibly handling. I have done searches in SegwayChat. Any positives and negative would be helpful. thanks, Jim

Mine handles great. I've never used it on a desert terrain, but I've taken it off-road, gone up and down some very steep hills, etc. Absolutely no issues...works great! Increases the top speed to somewhere around 15 MPH due to the larger circumference tires.

Here's one source for a conversion kit, but I've found them cheaper elsewhere:

Thanks for the responses. I think have read all of the posts related to the conversion issue. No one has really experienced any strong negatives in converting an i2 to an x2, so that will open my options up. Thanks for the responses. Jim

So what did you find and end up doing? I'm converting my i2 to x2 next month. Besides fenders, I think all I need are the wheels and hub adapters.

You're replying to a 5 year old post . . . . and he hasn't posted here in more than 2 years - Doubt you'll get a reply

If you go read his old posts, you'll know what he did - He bought an X2 and awhile later, he bought a second one

I would think you would have a much better chance to PM a member for an answer?

Don
Makes sense since he is discussing old Segway models.
