Looks good Bill, glad to see someone else personalizing their Segways.

It has been quite some time since your Segways have been painted and was wondering how the paint has held up? Have you had to touch it up or repaint it? Has it chiped a lot? Is there a different kind of paint you would use. Do you regret painting it and wish it was still factory paint?

When I painted my fenders, wheels, geearboxes and control shaft, the Fusion paint was not available in the color I wanted. So, I used a primer designed for plastic before I used regular paint for the color and then a top coat of clear.

Paint looks really cool on the Segway, but it does mark up and chip off easily. So, the machine will look great for a while, but then it will look beat up much faster than a stock machine.

I did a two tone and powder coated parts and have painted fenders and found it works great.

Default Krylon Fusion For Plastic

I am considering painting my center console trim with the black Krylon Fusion for Plastic as recommended here. To match the standard look of the black from the factory I believe I use the flat version of the paint. Is this correct? My center console trim was sage metallic not black when purchased.

Thanks,
Joe

Smile Alcohol

Please, please, please, DON'T CLEAN WITH ANY ALCOHOL when going to paint!!!!!

I can't tell you why I know, the job was classified with GOV. Soap and water WAS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CLEANING AGENT. Just let dry over night. The gloves can be clean cotton, use once. Use DRY, oil free air to blow off dust before painting. Did this for a few years worked great.

legpain,

I find it interesting that you recommend no Alcohol... I alway have a few belts before I paint anything... The results aren't as good, but I just don't care

Denatured alcohol would be an acceptable but less desirable substitute, but avoid isopropyl alcohol - it has too much water in it.

First we hear that alcohol is "acceptable"...

Then we're admonished to not use it. Now I'm confused.

Can someone provide some clarity?

Many thanks.

Smile Yes!

I could, but then I'd have to kill you!

Our paint problem was studied by some of the most smartest folks I've ever heard of, they went through ALL kinds of cleaners just to find out soap and water was the best. BTW, cotton absorbs oil, any other gloves spread oils.

Default Bringing It Back Around....

Sorry,,,but bringing the question back up that I had posed earlier.... Was I right that for the center console trim I would want to use flat black?

In advance thanks for the help and input.
