You might also consider fully charging the batteries and removing them from the machine if you do not intend to use them for a little while. This would be the best practice if you plan on storing the machine until spring.

Didn't think of that, that's good news. It was about 18 this morning, and I experienced the exact same behavior on my other I2 this morning, so I am confident this seems to be the way they act. All's good.

So today, I tested that theory out. Equally cold this morning. I went slower and the ! didn't come on as soon. I made slower, wider turns, and it didn't have any issues. If I would go faster, it would issue the !. So I am thinking that when it is really cold, whatever sensors it uses behave differently, or the s/w is coded to act diff based on temp, as it seems to just want you to glide gentley, slowly, and smooth wide turns. The ! would come on at like 3 or 4 mph or if I made turns. Slowing down caused it to go away. Once it's inside and warmed up, its back to normal performance pretty quickly. Since the weather is going to be this cold for awhile, I will keep testing out this idea until I get some confidence in my understanding of what to expect. Is there any mechanical connections inside that could be binding up because they are cold and adding resistance that the seg interprets and tells the user to slow down ? |

It is almost entirely an issue with the batteries not delivering enough power when cold. When it got really cold here, I would start the segway up 20 minutes or so before my ride, and just let it sit against the wall while I got ready, made my coffee, etc.
