I wonder, is rough terrain handling much better on the X2 with its larger wheels? |

You need to remember that it's only two wheels parallel.
As long as you slow down before entering hazardous terrain and cautiously navigate obstacles, there's a MUCH smaller risk of having an incident. |

I normally crouch down if I see questionable terrain ahead. Otherwise, I keep my knees bent for all except perfectly smooth and familiar pavement.

I dropped off my Segway at my local dealer (and by "local", I mean: 45 minute drive away) today. He said they'll have it done by Monday. I forgot to ask them to document and photograph what they did so I understood what the problem was.
While I was there I tried the x2 (non-SE) model they had and I noticed the InfoKey on that unit didn't click either, so I'm guessing the spring/clicker thing wears out easily? I said my Segway was still covered under warranty, but forgot to ask if fixing the misalignment would be paid-for by Segway Inc, or would I have to pay for it out-of-pocket? But I assume the $40 he quoted me is still valid, but I'm cringing at the prospect of being handed a $400 invoice next week. Also, while I was in their showroom filing in some paperwork a couple of tourists came in looking for the Segway Tour of Seattle, immediately the first words they said as they came in: "Do they still make these? I heard the owner died..." ...wow :O |

I hear that frequently. Some kind soul even stopped me in Walmart one day to warn me about that.

And I thought you said that your InfoKey was running down the battery? That would be a "stuck key" problem, having not much to do with clicking. |

Gen 1 machines do not have this "feature" It has allowed more than one Gen1 player to score a goal unchallenged. jeff

They fixed the problem by removing the red logo plate at the front, which reveals 4 screws which adjust friction-clamps that hold the lower LSF's attachment, use a hex-screw to loosen the screws to release the clamps, then reposition the frame, then tighten the screws and you're all set. Total charge: $30 (down from the $40 they initially quoted). They also attached my kickstand using longer screws so it won't fall off again, included in the $30. As for the keys, they said they'll see if they're covered under warranty, and if so, then I'll send them 1 key in the mail which they'll get repaired, then I get it back I'll send the other key. I don't imagine the keys wouldn't be covered under warranty? |
