Default first "off-roading" with my segway

I am getting a new house built, and I was down at the construction site this past weekend. I am disabled, use an I2 with a SegSaddle, and since its a construction site, wasn't able to basically leave my car and walk more than a few feet before the terrain was unsafe or obstructed with misc construction debris, equipment, or piles of supplies. My wife (able-bodied) walked around the back and told me to glide on back. I hopped on, was able to negotiate the little mud paths they have to walk, cross piles of stones and ditches, and even glide down to the front which required going down a significant grade and then back up, all dirt and it was raining too.

Probably all normal to every day segger's but I am sitting and have never used it other than in basic "city" environments. I was totally impressed, best wheel chair ever invented. Truth be told, I went a bit past my comfort zone, but I really wanted to see the site, and I now have a much better impression as to what the seg can actually do. I was "muddin," took quite awhile to clean it up.

Hurrah for you!

The x2 is an extremely capable off-road machine. When I got mine I pushed it to (and past) it's limits and I can tell you that for all but the most experienced riders, the Segway is going to be comfortable in more situations than you will be.

I'd be concerned about wheel slippage with the stock i2 tires, but even with that you can get some more aggressive motorcycle tires and go wherever you want.

Thanks, that's good to know. I won't go past what I am good with anymore, and then the seg will be happier than I am with the task. I was impressed with the current stock tires, I was able to get back up the muddy grade with no problems even though it was raining. Had I been more observant and smarter, I probably would not have gone down it in the first place. I was there this past weekend (beautiful sunny dry day) and said "no way, I'm not going down that. So I survived, and I learn. Have a great day
