Here's my opinion: Insurance that costs 50% of the price of a new item is too expensive.

Use same desgin....make it plastic offer it for $5 to 8 bucks...

Made out of any medal... make it $20....

btw.... there are lots of plastic and rubber parts on my Segway!

No one is knocking your idea....I would guess most of us just scratched our heads at $99!

At that price your close to Segway handle bar case... comfort matts, even the 2 piece carrier plate...and guess what... that's made of metal, plastic, and rubber.

I'd rather just carry InfoKey in my pocket.

It is true that the concerns and priorities of individual owners are different than those of tour operators who have to account for many other issues. Putting info keys on the customers' body (around their neck, in their pocket, on their wrist, etc.) is not practical because of the risk that they'll play with them, drop them, lose them, walk off with them, etc.

So here's the opinion of an experienced tour operator:

Good luck with that. In seven years, I've had to replace four infokeys. It would cost me $3500 to outfit my fleet with your dock. That's more than half way to a new I2, the revenue from which would pay for thousands of lost or broken infokeys.

The factory infokey dock can be made nearly 100% secure by screwing the Dovetail Adaptor to the dock itself. Then you can take the infokey on and off with a simple twist of the wrist (unsnapping the infokey from the adaptor).

The factory infokey dock is too expensive - but unless an alternative costs less than that, it is out of the question. Four times as much?!

…especially when the FREE alternative is to tie it with a lanyard to the handlebar bag and store it in the pocket of the bag.

And, by the way, if a tour company is having so many accidents that are so serious that they cause the infokey to fall off, then they have much bigger fish to fry.

Just my opinion.

"And, by the way, if a tour company is having so many accidents that are so serious that they cause the infokey to fall off, then they have much bigger fish to fry."

As a professional tour guide, you would know how that can happen, as simple as having the key in the dock and the rider pushing hard enough on the buttons to push in out of the dock and fall on the ground.

I appreciate your feed back and understand that it is costly, but I believe it is a worthwhile investment. Keep in mind that for tour companies there will be volume discounts available. I definately believe that it will ultimately save tour operators money and hassle in the long run.

That's why, as I said, I screw or glue the Dovetail Adaptor to the dock. Then that never happens.
