Report Fake Segways or No?
I was about to buy an electric scooter from a company until I saw that they also sold Segway-like knock-offs. I've also seen sites that promote their products as Segways.
People unfamiliar with real Segways may be fooled. Should I report this to Segway when I see it or leave them be? What would you do? e.g. |

Although I can't ride one I've followed the Segway since day one. Amazing device. I've seen 3 and 4 wheel "things" called segscooters forever. Now I see the chinesse knockoffs.
As far as reporting. If Segway is unaware of these products then they are completely asleep at the wheel. They must know they are there they just don't care about it. If there'renot concerned why should I be ? Just a thought..... |

It cannot hurt to report to Segway Inc, that their ad says "Mini Segway" as the Segway name is a branded and most likely registered name.
That makes their ad improper. What Segway does about it if anything is a different story. Reporting it to them so they can choose to react or not, or how, is not your responsibility, but clearly may be your choice. I suspect they know about the product, but perhaps not about that advertisement.

Segway appears to be well aware of these knockoffs and is working through the channels to get them halted:

Since it is a knock off who owns Segway now, perhaps it would be appropriate to report from now on anyone who promotes the original Segway. Just kidding!
Keep gliding the original way!

However, it seems my advice was ill timed, and now is moot. Seems they may have bought the right to call their non-segway a mini Segway, if they want. (if what we have been reading about is accurate) Anyway you look at it, the future will likely be different than the past.

Segway or not, there are now lots of PT's to choose from. Much better than the previous choice of two models and a few colors.

It is always positive to have many options available for any product. Competition is also another thing that usual brings innovation and better products in any industry.
