Infokey coupling problems - Known issue?

Hi all,
i'm going to buy a "used" segway (5 mi). It is a generation III segway (therefore a i2SE)
The dealer told me that these generation III segway have an issue (known to Segway) with coupling between the infokey and the segway station and therefore i should bring it quite close to the station to power it on
I didn't find any issue like this on the Internet: is it true?
Inoticed that, after powering the segway on, while driving it, the infokey switched off because i was keeping too far away from the station, in its spot on thehandlebars! The segway was still up and running but i couldn't get any alert/information from the infokey...
Again, trying the Training Safety Shutdown the segway did not produce any alarm/sound even if the infokey displayed correctly the alert anf then the station shut down. And finally it was not possible to set the speed limit (the infokey was already unlocked) or to go into the "user configuration" mode holding the information butto for 2 or more second while displaying the odometer ...
Anyone can help me?
