Infokey Isn't Turning My i2 On
I didn't see a thread on this specific error. Please forgive or re-direct me if it has been covered.
I haven't used my Segway outdoors in at least a season. Sometimes I'll glide indoors just to run it, but for the most part, I haven't had it plugged in recently. Today I tried to turn it on. This is what the infokey displayed: So I plugged it in and charged it overnight: Still, the infokey won't turn it on. I've replaced the battery in the infokey, but it still seems not to be communicating with the Segway. This has never happened, but it is over 5 years old. I'm hoping it's not a major issue requiring service because there aren't any service places near me. |

Try Swapping the batteries on the machine from front to back/vice verse.
If you then get an error upon trying to start up your machine, the rear battery (now the front) is likely bad. Also, how long did you leave the Segway without charging? If you left it for more than a few weeks, damage will have most likely occurred. |

But it looks like the batteries are charged because they're blinking normally while it's plugged in. I'm hoping it's just an infokey issue. I've swapped the infokey batteries before, but I have a full pack so I'll try it with another battery. My backup infokey batteries are unused but at least a year old. I wonder if that's an issue also. |

Two green lights means the batteries are happy AFAIK. When you press the power button on the info key, do all of the segments go black? Does the time on the infokey always revert to 12:00 when you press the on button?

You said you do not have any nearby dealers, which is a shame, but you might want to take it to one so they can try some different batteries on the unit. I don't think the batteries in the infokey would be a problem, but it would not hrt to purchase a new one just to try. IMO it sounds like a battery problem, but it could just be the infokey. Quote:

You only need a single tool, and when you acquire it, the know-how is contained in the PT manual. Hint: it's righty-tighty, lefty-loosey.

It really is easy to swap batteries, you need a 3mm Allen Wrench. A long one, at least 5 inches long. 4 on each battery, lay the Segway on one wheel and the location of the screws becomes vary obvious.

I would try the other info key. Just put a new battery in it to try. Always try the easy fixes first!

I changed to another unopened (yet still over 1 year old) infokey battery (CR2430 3 VOLTS Energizer Lithium) and this time the clock didn't reset, the LCD displayed data remained black but unfortunately the Segway still didn't start. I'll buy a new set of CR2430 batteries just as a final test, then I'll just have to purchase new Segway batteries I guess |
