Default Cleaning the soft bags

I have this handlebar bag:

Can anyone tell me what I could use on it to clean and dress it? The corners are a little fuzzy, so I guess I could use an old beard trimmer to clean that up some. But how would I get the material to look newer/blacker?

Hot August Nights is coming up in Reno soon and I'd like my Segway to look as nice as possible. I'm hoping to be sporting some new rims and tires (I'll show you pics when they come - you'll be envious) and maybe some other bling. But the bag would be a terrible distraction if I don't clean it up.

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks, Bill. Those aren't the ones I was referring to though. In fact, those are the stock wheels and tires for an i180, but I added some nice hubcaps. I have since converted the Seg to an XT, but I wanted some cooler wheels and not so aggressive tires. They are on the way.

Anyway, I did some more searching and found this info from none other than the "Hints from Heloise" lady: How To Clean Filthy Backpacks. I think it answers my question nicely.

R'gards,

Jim

I have two bags, one for show and one for daily use. You can get a "show" bag pretty cheaply on e-bay or from one of the many friendly dealers here on SC.

Default Warm soapy water and a scrub brush

will clean them up, and I think you are on to something with the shaver.

But picking up an extra bag for going out, is not a bad idea. Just remember to have all the same basic things in each of them. Nothing worse than not having your wrenchs in one and your lip balm in the other, and needing them when you have the wrong bag on.

I think that is the reason guys don't carry purses. ;-)

Except on the handlebars of their Segways, and even then they aren't called purses, they're called portable tool bags.

Default 'cleaning up the fringe'

The loose threads, and fuzz that get roughed up by all the velcro and other abrasions (leaning against a wall) are easily cleaned up with lighter.

For example the little net pocket on the gen one bag was getting pretty ratty, so I ran a flame by all the fuzzies. They curled up nicely, and the bit of melting that occurs, helps stop further fuzzies.
