Headlight recommendation
In my early days of gliding, I was looking for a bright headlight, and sprung for what was then state-of-the-art, an HID unit from Light and Motion for $400. The cost was hard to justify, but it's incredibly bright, and has served me well. But the battery has reached the point where it lasts only about 20 minutes on low beam, so I needed a replacement.
I happened across this unit on Amazon for $40, with a 4.5 star rating from almost 1000 reviewers. It arrived yesterday, and I'm extremely impressed. It's very well built, smaller and much lighter than the HID, with run times similar to the HID when it was new. Its light output is 1200 lumens - ten times that of the HID! Its lowest of three levels is brighter than the HID's high setting, and its high level is ridiculously bright. It even comes with a 3-mode taillight and helmet mount, although I've mounted mine low on the LSF. If you're looking for a great light for an amazingly low price, this is it. http://www.amazon.com/RECHARGEABLE-B...us+bright+eyes
