Default Explore the gearbox internals

I purchased my second used x2 from a guy in Scottsdale, AZ. Last summer. It was a good example of 'buyer beware'. It was a 2011 with 266 miles. Batteries lasted only a few months and I discovered they were 2006 and 2007 batteries. I am now replacing the left side gearbox. It makes an odd rattling, scraping noise at slow speeds. I have checked the Elastomeric couplers and they are fine. The output shaft is straight. I have isolated the noise to the gearbox itself.

I am planning to disassemble the noisy gearbox to determine what the problem might be. Has anyone done this? What can I anticipate?
