Not as ridiculous as a plastic kickstand for $40+!! And, the kickstands seem to break on their own after a few months. Ask ANY tour operator.

If you have to ask how much it costs to fix a Segway, you probably can't afford to own one...

With 25 Segways being used by different people every day, no matter how well we supervise the use, we are frequently replacing parts that just seem to wear out too quickly, or break too easily.

The turn grips are very poorly made. If you haven't replaced one yet, count on it, you will.

I hope that future HT's are 'really' built to a the standard of 'hard use' that the initial cost would indicate. Don't get me wrong, technically it's a wonderful machine. But, the Segway has a long way to go to manufacture the unit at the 'highest' quality standard possible...

in defence of my fellow dealer, while that is a lot of money...rest assured it's not lining your dealers pocket. The component cost from Segway is by far the lions share of the bill. I suspect you'll find the dealers labour rate and a relatively small margin on the parts will be the balance, and it'll be the much smaller piece of the pie

As long as you are just trying to replace the UI and not the CS, the cost should be cheaper.

Default I feel Your Pain!

I had to replace a CS base last year, and it was like that same amount. I also had to replace the Handlebar and the wires from that as well.

As Henry Ford said I will give the cars away for free, If I can be the sole provider of the parts....

Imagine what it would cost to replace one of those on a "Q" - Oh yeah those are just throw aways, and buy new - but who would want to? ;-) (buy a new Q)

Nothing good is cheap, and if it is, you would not want it in the first place.
