SE Model Q&A and Pics

I started into a long winded answer on another thread about the SE model... so I thought I'd open up a thread to answer any 'hands-on' questions that people may have... or if you'd like a picture of a specific part, process, or angle. Let me know and I'll do my best to answer/post everything.

InfoKey Dock.
Charge port.

Thanks!

Is there any differences in the batteries, motors, gearboxes, wheels/tires, or software in the base?

How are the running lights powered and how are they turned on and off?

How is the front carry case attached and detached and can you open it easily while attached without dumping the contents on the ground?

Are these new models shipping now?

Which of the accessories (sorry, SEGcessories) are available now?

Stan and Tritium... I've just emailed inc to get info on what circumstances need to be met in order for the running lights to operate (both to answer Stan's question and get that pic for T)

Stan, It looks like everything in the base is the same. Though if I had to guess I'd bet you'll see a change in the i-series wheel design before the year is out. I say this because they changed the x-series wheels, and I'd imagine they have a much bigger inventory of i-series wheels they need to sell-through first.

Accessories aren't in yet, so I'll address those once they are.

Yes, they are available. I'm sitting here looking at about 20 (most already sold waiting to be built).

Do you think a spoked design will come?
The i2 design meant nothing, or rather nobody, could become trapped in the wheel and injured, so I don't know how they'll significantly change the design without using "spokes".

I like the new X-Wheels.

Cheers!

From the online manual:
"Running Lights
The PT Running Lights, located at the front and rear of the Powerbase (see
Figure 22), are intended to make the PT and rider more visible to others in
low-light conditions. The Running Lights turn on automatically and stay on
until the PT is powered down.
PT Running Lights are not user-serviceable; if there are any problems with
the Running Lights, contact your Segway dealer."

Tritium, Here is the charge port open/closed. Pics of lights to follow. The infokey dock is the same, as the upper leansteer is exactly the same.

Pete, Yeah, read that. Just turns out I had a unit with bad lights. Just bad luck I suppose. Inc is taking care of it.

Tritium,

Yeah, we haven't seen any open scallops since the prototype 'Ginger' days (come to think of it... I think I still have some of those prototypes in my basement.

Anyway, back to the point... I would bet that it wouldn't be too dissimilar to todays wheels. Perhaps a little more styled... curved instead of flat perhaps.

Thanks for those pics, it looks a lot more durable and sleek!
Hopefully the lights are moddable and supply a good enough voltage to run a higher powered led off of.

Jared,

Please tell us about the connection of the new lean steer with the shaft. Does it look like a part we could just swap out? How about the power supply, does it look like it could be swapped onto an old i2?
