Very excited to be on board.

I'm writing from the Tour Hub in Philadelphia.
I have taken over the care and maintenance on a 25 segway fleet. Yikes !

All is well until I find a problem I cant solve. Hopefully the good people of Segway Chat can throw me a hints, suggestions and advise.

With that said, anyone have an idea what going on when the segway drops power bars very quickly even though the batteries have tested fine on other rides?

Good luck and welcome.....Only thing that crosses my mind is tires, tires, tires....

Is this while driving? If so something is increasing the drag on the motors most likely. Things I'd check:

• Tire pressure - 15 lbs for i2 / 4 lbs for X2
• Tire/wheel/fender clearance - Remove each wheel and check for wear marks from debris
• Elastimer couplings - Make sure these are in good shape, no white silicon dust
• Motors - Swap out one motor at a time with a known good Segway
• Transmissions - Swap out one transmission at a time with a known good Segway

One thing that can occur if you have lots of repeated partial charges, is that the calibration of the battery meter on the infokey is off. It tries to compensate, and often this will make it seem to drop power or power bars quickly.

I would check the items previously listed, but if I am right, the simple solution is to let it discharge completely, then charge it completely. Use it, but do not charge it. Let it finish off its power while on, but up against the wall. Once it turns itself off for lack of power, then wait 30 minutes, and plug it in.

Charge it till full, a good 8 hours or more.

Then use it as usual. You may want to go thru this cycle twice.

If there are no mechanical problems, this may be your factor..

Karl is right. Start with the easy solutions first. Try the discharge/recharge and see what happens.
