Howdy from Aggieland, Texas

Howdy all! New user here so I just wanted to post a quick intro. I'm just a guy from Bryan/College Station, Texas, that's now hooked on the idea of buying a Segway after taking a tour in San Francisco with the Electric Tour Company. I'm having a bit of trouble with the high price tag though and my wife has put the nix on financing a Seg so...I'm not sure what's going to happen. But hopefully, sometime soon, I'll be able to buy me a Segway. :)

Welcome...

Just like cars, there is an active market in used machines, and the prices are much more accessible to many... It may be a good place to start...

Be careful of Ebay and Craigs list... Good sites, but buyer beware! There are lots of scams. (and some great buys)

Keep gliding, keep smiling...

Meet up with some of the other Texas gliders

Take the time to visit a dealer, and learn as much as you can from Segway Chat.

All Segways are fun! (And I can tell you 2 are a lot more fun than 1 - especially if you have a signifigant other, spouse, or friend to go out glideing with!)

Choose the one that you think you will use the most, and then keep an eye open for one. SegwayChat members are a good source for machines, and also a good source for checking out machines for you.

If you do buy from afar - be wary - there are a number of cons out there. When buying used, the condition of the batteries are as important as anything. And how the machine will be shipped to you is a key issue, if by any chance you can get it shipped in a Segway Box with all the protection it can get, then spend a little extra and do that.

Gen One machines - they have the twist grip turning instead of the lean steer turning are a real bargain right now as a number of them are coming on the market at a good price. The downside of them is the cost of parts if you break something - like a handlebar - can make it not that good a deal.

Keep your eye open, and if you want a Segway, then you will get one.
