I get this code once in a while. The C100 error code and a shoutdown. I step off turn off the machine. Then I restart and its ok. This seems to happen only occasionally.

Any Ideas.

See the following:

http://social.segway.com/mediawiki/index.php/Error_Codes

Here's what it states:

C100 The Rear CU Board reports: The battery packs do not have sufficent charge to continue safe operation. Charge the batteries

See: http://forums.segwaychat.com/showthread.php?t=13656 . Probably a bad battery.

C108 for front or C100 for rear pack.
not all the cells inside will have same voltage over aging.
one of thoes 23 cells is not recovering from deep discharge.
microcontroller equalizer inside pack is trying to distribute
voltage over that cell by shunting rest of cells.
if is not succeeding to push the voltage, red led goes ON.
replace whole 4 elements from that cell. (if you can).
or buy another new battery pack.
is not regarding temperature this C100/C108,
but low temperatures makes all lithium based cells slippy.

You might try swapping the batteries from front to rear. Also, try fully discharging the batteries by leaning the Seg against a wall while powered up in riderless balance mode until it shuts down. Be SURE to immediately recharge the batteries fully as soon as the shut down occurs. Otherwise, the batteries may slip under the minimum charge requirement and the PT will not charge them at all.

You guys are answering questions asked 3 years ago. Chances are either the problem was solved, or it is a completely new one now...

if defective batt is in the front returns code C108, if swap, returns C100.
i just make a picture to see how clearly it looks.
you can see the destroyed element. is even with leakuage.
distroyed cell is descharging completly the rest of three in the group.
the battery is exactly with C100/C108 trouble.
it is solution for good and clean fix, allready tested.
but remember, from deep discharge cells are never returning 100%.
